One District One Product (ODOP)

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a centrally sponsored scheme, Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME), with the aim of providing financial, technical and business support for upgrading existing micro food processing enterprises.

It has adopted One District One Product (ODOP) approach to reap the benefits of scale in terms of procurement of inputs, availing common services and marketing of products.

In line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision, this will help in taking local products to the national level as well as generate economic stability for the people making his vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat a reality.

MoFPI and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) have entered into an MoU wherein Nafed is leveraging its branding and marketing expertise to develop new products as part of the PM FME scheme.

After extensive market study and research, NAFED has developed various innovative products for end consumers which are not only healthy and economically priced but also come in attractive packaging. These products are being manufactured by Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs) across India after receiving comprehensive training from NAFED.

NAFED has developed a multi-pronged marketing strategy and has also developed unique brands, under the ODOP concept, to promote the products.
