Thanks to Mr. Yasaki, who is expert of Whisky, we finished first filtering experiment with Black rice whisky, rice Whisky (Lao Khao) Banana brandy. Color, sell and taste were amazingly improved. We will do this once again for the quality to be ready to export BKK, France and Japan.

On 31st of Dec 2011 to 4th of Jan 2012 at Savannakhet vocational school and Champasak Grand hotel, ODOP held a training about bakery by pastry chef named Mr. Oshida from Japan. He introduced the way to make rice and black rice flour cakes and breads, without normal flour.
Mr. Oshida and ODOP team believed that this training is very important first step to develop Laos bread product. Because now they can use only normal flour imported from Vietnam when they make bread, but if they can make cakes and bread with rice flour, they don’t have to import it, and moreover it helps famers. Mr. Oshida also said “lice flour in Laos has very much potential for making high quality bread and cakes”.

Under local cotton project, spinning local cotton training was conducted by Mr. Ounkham Onphachan (Department of Industry and Commerce, Oudomxay Province, Laos) from 14th to 16th Dec, 2010 for ODOP members of Houayhuntai village, Laogam District, Saravanh province.
In the past women in the village by themselves used to do all of the processes from spinning to weaving cotton. But since they got able to access cheap cotton yarn easily in local markets,
they’ve shifted yarn of cotton textile into it even if it wasn’t with good quality, and in the result local cotton yarn has disappeared. But to revive traditional, local, and high quality cotton
textile, they actively learnt the way from cultivating cotton to spinning it in this training.
The day is coming soon when we can see 100% hands-made local cotton textile of Saravanh province!!
